The “Voice of Greece” modifies its programme for Holy Week and proposes:
– The Greek Easter meets the Greek song from Monday to Friday in the English-language show “Greek music express” (14.00 – 15.00 Greece time) with Hercules Economou. These are five musical works by Greek composers inspired by the Divine Passion. In particular:
Monday “Epitaph after Stavros Xarchakos” by G. Ritsos – M. Theodorakis.
M. Tuesday “N. Gatsos – St. Gatsos. St. Xarchakos.
Wednesday “Hymns of angels in rhythms of men” by St. “Wednesday.
M. Thursday “Days of the Epitaph” N. Gatsos – D. Papadimitriou.
M. Friday “Requiem” by M. Theodorakis.
On Friday
– Thanasis Houpis, highlights in the show “Greeks everywhere” the role of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, in the places where Jesus taught the Divine Word and experienced his Passion and Crucifixion (12.00 – 14.00 Greece time).
– In “Our Global Voice”, Petros Diplas and Dimitris Kontogiannis will talk to Greeks from around the world who will tell how they will spend Easter away from home (16.00 – 17.00 Greek time).
– “Music in its primary form is a remedy for the wounds of the soul – something as necessary as air and food…” Christopher C. King writes in his book “Continental Fatalism”. The first time King heard the “continental dirge” his life changed forever…
The fatal song of Epirus from the eyes of foreigners, a journey through the songs of loss and separation, in the show “My Soul’s Choma” with Angelos Stathopoulos (17.00 – 18.00 Greece time). The second part of the show will be broadcast on M. Saturday (20.00 – 21.00 GMT).
– Nicole Liakostavrou in the show “Little Sea” guides us through the gardens of the Theological School of Halki and the plants, which are mentioned in the Bible and their symbolism (18.00 – 19.00 GMT).
– “Unfolding Light” A two-hour music-making session. A “live” concert from the Hellenic Radio’s Studio E’ with a solemn mood. The lyricist and cellist Giorgos Kaloudis improvises and Pantazis Tsaras reads excerpts from the Epitaph by G. Ritsos (02.00 – 04.00 Greece time).
On M. Saturday
– Themis Rodamitis presents in “Our Town” a musical journey through the cities of America from the end of the 19th to the first half of the 20th century. The Greek immigrants, along with their struggle for a better future, preserved their musical legacy that they inherited from their homeland, expanded it and enriched it with new elements that they drew from their new cities while maintaining their national homogeneity. In the studio, George Makris from the musical group “Parapetamenoi” and the actress and performer Kerasia Samara who performs a song by Marika Papagikas in a jazz arrangement by Takis Barberis (12.00 – 14.00 Greece time).
– In the show “Good Seas” Antonis Karagiannakis talks to Greek sailors celebrating Easter
